Undeb Bangor Response in bold
Thank you for your petition about Academi. We’re making sure your feedback is passed on to the University, and we’re also encouraging every student to have their say through the University’s official feedback form on the Business Cases for Change here - this is your chance to have your voices heard during the consultation period, which is open until 13th June.
The financial situation at the University is serious, and changes are being proposed to keep things running in the long term. We know this is worrying, and we’re pushing hard to make sure any decisions put students first and cause as little disruption as possible.
What we’re doing:

Academi Night Club is THE place to be on a Wednesday night in Bangor, Wales. It's not just a nightclub; it's a staple for students and an essential part of our university life. This is where freshers meet all the sports teams and societies in a laid-back environment, fostering camaraderie and friendships that last a lifetime. Without Academi, AU Wednesday night will never be the same.
Beyond being a crucial social hub, Academi provides job opportunities for many students. For those studying at Bangor University, having part-time work is often essential to manage living expenses. By closing this nightclub, the university is not only disrupting the vibrant student life but also jeopardizing these valuable job opportunities.
We urge those in power at Bangor University to reconsider this decision. There must be alternative solutions that can keep Academi open while addressing any concerns the university might have.
Please sign this petition to show your support for keeping Academi Night Club open. Let's preserve this key part of Bangor's student life for current and future students alike. Your support can make a difference.

no night life without academi!!!!
academi is the best student night club, why shut it down?? so safe, cheap and welcoming. It's where freshers find sports clubs and societies' culture
Academi is such an important part of University life, a place to unwind, socialise and destress from your degree. To make friends that last a lifetime, to join societies and to build important team bonds. The experience wouldn’t have been the same without it
Academi has been my home for 2 years! I have worked my way through almost every Wednesday night every week as well as a lot of the other nights before we stopped doing them and cleaning or restocking shifts! I would be extremely lost without them. I can’t let it close for my own mental sanity plus the opportunities is offers students for socialising!!! Where else will I get to dress like the Easter bunny to sell shots for be dressed like a frat boy working behind bar!
Academi isn’t just your standard club. On Wednesday nights it’s become a place to celebrate success, build connections and escape from our studies. We all understand the Universities financial struggles but to close one of the places that students will always attend in large numbers and support, you’re ripping one of the hearts out of the uni.
Without Academi, Trilogy will have no competition in the Bangor nightlife scene. If Academi goes down, best believe Trilogy prices will go up!
Academi is a big draw for potential students who want a night out with people of their demographic in a safe space at affordable prices, if it goes people won't be as likely to come to study here
Academi is one of the best places to go for a night out on AU night! You know that your always safe and that if you have an issue it will be dealt with so quickly. They have also allowed so many students to gain valuable work experience and all around social skills! Without academi the uni will loose its flair!!
