Bangor University Women's Football team has secured the BUCS Northern Tier 4a league title after an undefeated season, with a final game win against UCLan 2's, 6-1. The team, led by club captain Abigail Jones and team captain Carys Lock, has played a high standard of football throughout the year and continuously improved their game.
This is a significant achievement for the team, as they were relegated to Tier 4a last year after a tough season with only one win. However, this year they have turned it around completely, winning all their games and being promoted to the next league, Northern tier 3A, after an impressive performance.
The team trains once a week, on a Friday from 6-7 pm on Ffriddoedd Astro Pitch, and has a consistent 26 members. The addition of a coach in Semester 2 has helped add structure to their training sessions, which has translated to increased intensity during match days.
Bangor University Women's Football team is not only successful on the field but also has several players being scouted by local Sunday league teams. Moreover, Vice Captain Shannon Jones has been selected to represent the Ynys Mon team in the upcoming Island Games.
This win marks a historic moment for the team, who have not won the league title in recent years. With this win, the team has shown its potential and has put the rest of the league on notice. Congratulations to Bangor University Women's Football team for an outstanding performance this year!
