Work with us!
Starting university is a big step, and we’re here to help you make the most of it from day one. Whether you’re joining us this September or thinking about becoming a Bangor student in the future, Undeb Bangor is your Students’ Union, representing you, supporting you, and helping you shape your student experience. We support over 12,000 students at Bangor University through representation, events, societies, sports, volunteering, and academic advice. We’re also home to UMCB, Bangor’s Welsh-language union, supporting Welsh speakers and learners through dedicated communities and services.
We’ve put together a line-up of events and opportunities designed to help you meet people, find your feet, and explore what Bangor has to offer.
An early chance to learn about the SU, how we work, and how you can get involved. This event is aimed at current students, but all are welcome.
A relaxed, informal space in our Activities Hub for those who prefer a quieter environment to meet new people, chat with our team, find out more about the SU. Free snacks and Dominos Pizza!
Our biggest welcome event of the year, held at the Brailsford Centre. You’ll find over 150 stalls run by student groups, services, and local businesses. Expect plenty of freebies and lots of information on how to get involved.
Serendipity Quiet Hour: 24th & 25th September (10am–11am)
If you’d prefer to attend during a quieter time, we’ve set aside a calm hour at the start of each day.
You’ll also see us at university registration points, where we’ll be giving out lanyards and information to help you get started.
More details about all of these activities can be found on our social media channels.
Undeb Bangor is an independent Students’ Union, operating as a registered charity and working in partnership with Bangor University. We run campaigns, represent your academic interests, provide support and advice, and create opportunities for you to get involved in student life, whether that’s through societies, sports, volunteering, or leadership.
We’re also proudly bilingual and inclusive. UMCB, the Welsh Students’ Union, is part of Undeb Bangor and works to promote Welsh language, culture, and community on campus. Whether you speak Welsh fluently or are just starting to learn, you’re welcome to take part.
At Undeb Bangor we support over 100 student-led societies and around 60 sports clubs. These are a great way to meet people, explore your interests, and get more from your university experience. You can browse everything online and filter by interest. Each group page shows what they do, when they meet, and how to join. Many groups also run taster sessions and “Give It a Go” activities during Welcome Week so you can try them out before committing.
Visit the group’s page on our website > Choose a membership option and log in with your university details > Add to basket, check out, and you’re in!
You’ll hear from the committee about next steps
No. Most groups welcome beginners, and there’s always someone to help you get started. If you’re unsure, contact the committee through their page.
If you have accessibility needs, financial concerns, or any questions about getting involved, contact the committee directly or email us at opportunities@undebbangor.com.

Volunteering is flexible, meaningful, and can help you build real experience alongside your studies. All current opportunities are listed on our website HERE, where you can browse by interest and sign up easily.
UMCB is the Welsh Students’ Union, representing Welsh speakers, learners, and anyone with an interest in Welsh language and culture. UMCB supports a wide range of clubs and societies, campaigns on behalf of Welsh-speaking students, and works closely with the University to keep the Welsh language and culture central to life at Bangor.
You don’t need to be fluent to get involved, just interested. UMCB is a welcoming and inclusive community, and you can join its groups the same way you would any other student group. For more information or support, email opportunities@undebbangor.com.
