Luke Austin - Treasurer

The Treasurer of the Bangor Union Society is responsible for managing the financial affairs of the organization. Supported by a team of Deputy Treasurers, the Treasurer ensures that all funds are handled responsibly, transparently, and in accordance with the society’s policies and financial regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Management: The Treasurer oversees the society’s budget, tracks income and expenditures, and ensures that funds are allocated appropriately to support events, programs, and initiatives.

  • Accounting and Record-Keeping: The Treasurer maintains detailed and accurate financial records, including receipts, invoices, and account statements. This ensures transparency and provides a clear record for both officers and external auditors if needed.

  • Budget Planning: Working closely with the President, Vice-Presidents, and other officers, the Treasurer helps plan the society’s annual budget, forecast expenses, and monitor financial performance throughout the year.

  • Supervising Deputy Treasurers: The Treasurer delegates specific financial tasks to Deputy Treasurers, such as tracking payments, managing petty cash, or assisting with event finances. They oversee this work to ensure accuracy and efficiency.

  • Financial Reporting: The Treasurer regularly reports on the society’s financial status to the executive team and members, providing updates on budgets, expenditures, and financial forecasts.

  • Compliance: The Treasurer ensures that all financial operations comply with university regulations, legal requirements, and internal policies, maintaining accountability and transparency.

  • Support for Fundraising: The Treasurer may also assist with fundraising efforts, sponsorships, and other revenue-generating activities, helping to secure additional resources for the society.

Overall, the Treasurer, together with their Deputy Treasurers, ensures the financial health of the Bangor Union Society.
