What is Bystander Training?
The Bystander Intervention contains sessions on recognising domestic abuse, sexual violence and sexual harassment. It encourages students to challenge inappropriate behaviour safely and gives practical strategies to do this.
The Bystander intervention programme empowers both men and women to intervene proactively to stop violence and abuse, particularly aimed at universities and higher education institutions.
What will be covered in the training?
The programme aims to begin a culture shift in which community members do not tolerate violence and believe that everyone is expected to do their part in maintaining a safe environment.

The Learning Environment
We are using Zoom for the training.
If you experience technical difficulties, in the first instance, close down the meeting and try logging in again using the same login as above. If you continue to have issues please contact Harriet-Alice Horn agenthhorn@gmail.com and she will do their best to assist you.
Please keep your cameras ON for the duration of the training. If you are unable to do so (you do not have a camera or your camera is broken) then please make sure you contribute where you can by using your microphone and the chat function. Upon entering the training, please mute yourselves. You will be invited to unmute and participate throughout the training.
What do you need to bring?
Please have a pen and notepad to hand for the activities and print any of the materials that you may want in front of you for the training or have this email open for convenience. We also encourage learners to listen to the training with headphones on as this can help with any sound issues, especially when watching videos.
Looking after yourself
The topics covered in this training can be distressing. You can message us privately during the training through the chat function. Alternatively, if you would like to speak to a member of the team after the training, please email training@welshwomensaid.org.uk and we can arrange a convenient time to speak.
We are conscious that some of you may be attending this course from your homes, which we would normally consider a safe place away from work. We advise, where possible, that you participate in the training in a room in which you can speak and listen freely, and that children are not present due to the sensitive nature of the topic.
