Hello, everyone! I am Nida Ambreen, and I am filled with excitement as I take on the role of the first Pakistani Postgraduate Vice President for Education in the Student Union at Bangor University. I decided to run for this position based on my past experiences in leadership roles and the strong conviction I hold that education plays a pivotal role in shaping individuals and communities. Throughout my previous leadership roles, I have witnessed the transformative power of education and its ability to empower individuals to reach their full potential. I am deeply grateful to every one of you for placing your trust in me. Your valuable insights and suggestions, gathered during the campaign, for improving the education system at Bangor University are highly appreciated and will be taken into account as I work towards positive change. Today, I would like to share my vision and discuss the top three priorities that will shape my tenure and contribute to enhancing the student experience on our campus. Firstly, one of my main focuses is to revamp and create study/social spaces that truly cater to your needs. We all know the struggle of finding the perfect spot to study, especially during exam season, or unwind with friends. That's why I am committed to gathering student input to design and improve these spaces. Your preferences and feedback will be at the heart of the transformation. Whether it's transforming existing areas, adding new facilities, or repurposing spaces for extracurricular activities, we'll work together to create an environment that supports both academic success and social engagement.

Next, let's talk about our amazing international student community. Being an international myself, I have an insight of the problems faced by international students. However, at Bangor University diversity is celebrated, and I am dedicated to making our international students feel at home. Together with the International Students Support Centre, we will provide comprehensive assistance with immigration processes and ensure a seamless transition. But it doesn't stop there! Cultural integration is a priority, and I want to empower you to share your traditions, languages, and customs with our entire campus. Through student-led cultural events, workshops, and mentorship opportunities, we'll foster cross-cultural understanding and create a true global community that cherishes diversity.

Last but certainly not least, sustainability holds a special place in my heart. It's no secret that our planet faces numerous challenges, and I believe that universities should take the lead in environmental stewardship. As your Vice President for Education, I am determined to implement eco-friendly initiatives on campus. From recycling programs to energy-efficient measures and waste reduction strategies, we'll work together to minimize our ecological footprint. But sustainability is not a one-person job; it's a collective effort. That's why I want to involve you, the students, in our sustainability endeavours. Through engaging events, campaigns, and workshops, we'll raise awareness and inspire a greener mindset among our campus community.

Overall, my journey as the Vice President for Education in the Student Union at Bangor University is fuelled by a passion to enhance the student experience. By creating inviting study/social spaces, supporting our international students, and driving sustainability initiatives, we can create a campus that is truly inclusive, empowering, and environmentally conscious.
