Make a Change is your opportunity to make positive changes and campaign easily and effectively, based on the ideas and campaigns that you submit to us. The aim is simple: to make sure Undeb Bangor truly represents Bangor University students, and to make it easier than ever to raise ideas, start campaigns, and create positive change.
The ideas and campaigns you submit to us can be around anything to improve student experience here at Bangor. The team at Undeb are here to support you in leading your own campaign or project, you just need to complete the form to get started.
If you have an urgent campaign, we have a specific section on the submission form for this. Select ‘Yes’ if your campaign is urgent and we can consider fast tracking the process when necessary.
Fill in as much of the form as you can. Your answers don’t need to be long, but the more detail you provide, the better we can understand your idea. Try to include why it matters and what you hope to achieve.
If your idea is urgent, select “Yes” in the relevant section of the form. Urgent proposals may be fast-tracked and handled differently depending on the situation.
We’ll be in touch within a week to let you know the next steps.
Every idea or campaign opens a Call for Evidence lasting at least 10 days. During this time, we may ask for a meeting, request more information, or explain how evidence will be gathered. Students, societies, clubs, and other stakeholders will also be invited to share their views, data, or feedback.
You can also submit additional evidence at any time by emailing studentvoice@undebbangor.com.
Once the Call for Evidence closes, the elected Student Officer Team will meet to discuss your idea or campaign, considering the initial idea alongside any further evidence that has been submitted. They will then decide whether to approve or reject it.
If no agreement can be reached, the idea will move to an all-student vote.
If you’re unhappy with the outcome, you can launch a petition on our website.
If you gather 50 student signatures within 10 days, this will trigger an all-student vote. You must notify us once you reach 50 signatures by emailing studentvoice@undebbangor.com.
If needed, an All-Student Vote will be set up by the Students’ Union and hosted on our website. We’ll share it on our socials and any other relevant channels but it’s also up to you to campaign to get students to vote. Students can vote for, against or abstain. The vote will need at least 500 students voting (total number of voters regardless of decision) to uphold the decision. If a vote is held, we can support you with information on how to run a campaign.
This would only ever happen if it was deemed to pose a financial or legal threat to the Union. If this was the case, you would be given the option to either change your idea or campaign so that it is no longer acknowledged as a threat under Byelaw 4.1.7 or you can withdraw your submission completely. You would be supported and be kept in the loop throughout this whole process.
The only other circumstance where a submission would be refused is if it had already been submitted and gone through the Make a Change process. Our Byelaw states:
“No idea with materially the same content can be discussed at the Student Officer Executive Meeting twice in one academic year unless it has been deferred from a previous committee. This will be determined by the Student Officer Team.”
Our byelaws are a set of rules that we legally must follow. These are decided by the trustee board.
Read through the ideas and campaigns that have been submitted to improve student experience and then submit your own thoughts on them to help your Student Officers make a decision on if we should work on them.
