Hello my name is Ross Griffiths. Your Llywydd UMCB this year.
I have recently graduated from studying Professional Policing in Bangor University. I am from a town in the middle of North Wales called Llanrwst and enjoy many pass times such as weightlifting, rugby, football, music and spending time with my friends. During my time in university, I was heavily involved in UMCB events and part of our amazing Welsh society here at Bangor called Y Cymric. I thoroughly enjoyed my time as a student here at Bangor and wish to ensure everyone has the same opportunities and experiences as I did.
This year I'd like to develop UMCB's presence within the university and campus to not only reach out to members of our Welsh student community outside of the society setting but also to make UMCB and Y Cymric more visible to all students with the goal of showing off Welsh culture and language for all to enjoy.
I wish to work closely with the University to tackle Welsh affairs ensuring policy and Welsh pride is maintained in the University. Alongside this, I wish to create a more inviting environment for Welsh speakers and learners to engage with UMCB events but also be an approachable and understanding member of the officer team willing to listen and tackle issues concerning Welsh students.
For the coming year I have already established a strong connection with the other officers where we have discussed how we will handle matters and work as a team. With this year in mind, as officers, we have created our objectives for this year which are; helping students find 'their people', ensuring that students are treated as partners not only in a Undeb setting but also on a university level and to defend and preserve Welsh culture and language.
