Welcome to the Events section, your guide to planning, setting up, and running successful events. Here you’ll find practical support on completing risk assessments, hosting external speakers, organising bake sales, and managing the key steps involved in running an event.
This section is designed to answer your questions, help overcome common challenges, and give you the confidence to run your events smoothly from start to finish.
The external speakers process ensures that any guest speakers invited to student events are approved and supported before the event takes place. An external speaker is anyone who is not a student at Undeb Bangor Students’ Union.
We encourage societies, clubs, and volunteering projects to invite guest speakers, but there is an approval process to follow before promoting your event. This helps ensure events are safe, successful, and that everyone involved is supported.
This section provides guidance on running bake sales safely and responsibly, including key risks to consider and steps to help ensure your event runs smoothly. From food safety and hygiene considerations to managing potential risks, this guidance will help you feel confident and prepared when organising your bake sale.
Risk assessments help you identify potential hazards, consider who may be affected, and put steps in place to reduce risks during your events and activities. This section provides guidance on how to complete a risk assessment, what to consider, and how to make sure your activities are safe and well planned.
You’ll also find risk assessment templates tailored for different clubs, societies, and volunteering projects to help you get started.
An AGM is an opportunity to discuss what’s happened in the past academic year, what went right, what didn’t go so well, and looking forward to the future. You will use this AGM to introduce candidates running for the next academic year’s committee. Candidates can deliver a speech and introduce themselves to the rest of the group, outlining what they would like to achieve in the future. You can hold the AGM anywhere and if you need to book a room to hold this in, please complete the room booking form here.
Once you have elected your new committee, the details of the successful candidates including their Bangor email address, role and name will need to be emailed to opportunities@undebbangor.com.
