Thank you to everyone who took part in the recent consultation on the future of our Elected
Student Officer roles. Your feedback was vital in shaping the decision made by the Trustee
Board.
What did students say?
โข Overall sentiment: 75% of students supported the proposed changes.
โข President: Students welcomed a clearer focus on student life issues, campaigns, and
governance, making the role more visible and relevant.
โข Vice President of Education: Strong support for keeping this role as the lead for academic
representation, with calls for more visibility and student-facing campaigns.
โข Llywydd UMCB โ Welsh Language Officer: Overwhelming support for strengthening
Welsh language advocacy and cultural engagement, with suggestions to make the role
more inclusive and visible.
โข VP Student Communities: Many students liked its focus on inclusion, belonging, and
advocacy for underrepresented groups, and saw it as a positive step toward building
stronger student communities. Some concerns were raised about ensuring sports,
societies, and volunteering remain well represented something we will address by
strengthening executive structures and regular forums.
