We are an all inclusive club with two teams. Our 1st team compete in division 1A north with our 2nds playing in division 4A north. We have a range of abilities throughout our club with the 1st team being a performance program, and our 2nd team being more of a social side with players progressing into our 1st team. No matter what your ability is, there is always a spot in our club for you! Both of our teams come together on a wednesday for our socials as well as both teams training together on a monday to prepare for our Wednesday games.
The 1st team performance program includes 3 free gym sessions a week monday, tuesday and friday mornings before you go to your lectures. The sessions are taken by a S&C coach who also helps the 1st team out with conditioning in training as well as warm ups, so you don't have to worry about what to do. Our coaching staff includes two semi-professional players, the head/ forwards coach Joe Simpson who plays for RGC north Wales side, who compete in the welsh premiership. The backs coach Sam Rogers, who has played for RGC and is now playing for Caldy in the English championship. So, we have a good set of coaches to help develop you as players in all aspects. For the past two years, the 1st team has had two unbeaten seasons winning the promotion back to back- hopefully making it three this year. This shows the effectivness of the coaching staff on the players since joining the club, helping to create a positive, family like team.
The 2nd team also come together similar to the 1st team. The players who are willing to show more development and want to gym in the morning sessions are welcome. Durining the Monday evening sessions, is when Coaches utilisie this time to help develop both the first and second team. But, even if you haven't played rugby before these sessions are nothing to be afarid of! Both the Coaches and fellow players are there to help you develop. On game days at home, both the 1st team and 2nd team support each other, wanting to continue the success of last season as hopes of a douple team promotion again this seaason. With an unbeaten home record in the 2022/23 season for the 2nd team, they have made huge progress over the year. Only to see it continue with more people joining this year. Ollie Coles, the 2nd team head coach, who has taken the 2nd team training for the past two years, has helped get behind the boys who are new to the game as well as improving players who have already played. Ollie has made good connections with north wales side, Menai Bridge RFC for the 2nds players who want more game time, with the oportuntinity to go play on saturday. So theres no way you won't get game time whilst at university.
