Bangor University Debating & Political Society recently declined a request to host a Q&A session on campus with representatives of Reform UK.

The Debating & Political Society is a student-led group affiliated to the Students’ Union. As with all student‑led groups, societies are run by students and have a level of autonomy in choosing their activities, subject to Students’ Union processes and procedures.
 
This decision was made by the society itself, and the Students’ Union did not receive any communication in relation to this matter.

As a registered charity, Bangor Students’ Union remains politically neutral and supports freedom of speech within the law.

We have previously facilitated robust political engagement safely and constructively.

A Students’ Union‑organised hustings event for the Senedd election is being arranged impartially, following our established procedures, and will offer a fair and balanced opportunity for participation from across all political parties.
