Volunteering Residential to the Conway Centre

Friday 04-11-2022 - 11:19

Last weekend, we had an amazing weekend over at the Connway Centre. The weekend was to celebrate our fantastic volunteers and Project Leaders and to thank them for all the work theyโ€™ve done to support our students here at Bangor University and the community all year round.

Over the weekend the volunteers had a chance to experience all different kind of activities, whist communicating and getting to know each other better. It was a great experience to see everyone take part in the variety of outdoor activities. Some examples of the different activities the volunteers had the chance to try over the weekend includes; raft building. The volunteers were given pieces of wood and some other equipment, and they had to find a way as a team to create a raft that would survive on the water, and at the end of the activity, they would get the chance to try the raft on the water. This was a great chance for them to work as a team and to accomplish something great. They also had the chance to experience nightline, this is an activity when one person is leading the way, whilst everyone else in taking part were blindfolded. This activity depended on complete trust and was another great experience for the volunteers. The last activity the volunteers took part in was high ropes, which was a very thrilling experience for them.

As well as the activities, during the nigh time they had the chance to connect and share ideas over the fire pit. But the weekend wasnโ€™t just about rewarding the volunteers, we wanted their feedback on how their projects were getting along and how we can support them as a Studentsโ€™ Union. We are looking forward very much for the next residential.
