Students Awarded for Their Commitment to Societies and Volunteering

On the 18th of March 2024, students gathered in Reichel Hall at Bangor University for an elegant evening of awards. The event celebrated the individual contributions of students through societies and volunteering projects. The night commenced with a speech from Nyah Lowe, the current SU president, followed by the newly elected Mya Tibbs, who will assume the role of VP for Societies and Volunteering as of the 1st of July.

Throughout the evening, numerous awards were presented, including silver/gold awards for outstanding contributions to societies and bronze/silver/gold awards for volunteering. Congratulations to all the winners who have generously given their time this year.

The most prestigious award, Volunteer of the Year, goes to Hannah Bowler (Sbectrwm). Your remarkable work throughout the year has positively impacted the lives of many people, and for that, we extend our gratitude.

Another highly coveted award is the Society Member of the Year, presented to Mia Coss of the Bangor Musical Theatre Society. Mia's unwavering dedication throughout the year, including her efforts in staging several productions, deserves commendation.

- Community Spirit Award: Ben Chandler โ€“ Hot Meals Project

- Santander Award recipients: Eleanor Morgan & Greener Gwynedd, Ben Chandler & The Hot Meals Project, Malaak Al Lawati & Sblat, John Toombs & Sbectrwm, Nicolas Perrott & Afonydd Menai, Endeavour Society, Tea Party, and Wellbeing Buddies.

- Joseph Marshall Award for Best New Opportunity: Podcast Society

- Event of the Year: Indian Society โ€“ Diwali

- Sustainability Award for Societies: Endeavour Society

- Sustainability Award for Volunteering: Hedgehog Friendly

- Fundraising Award for Societies: Bangor University Student Midwife Society

- Fundraising Award for Volunteering: Guide Dogs

- Best New Volunteering Project: Hot Meals Project

- Volunteering Project of the Year: Sblat

- Society of the Year: Endeavour Society

- VP Award for Societies: Nicolas Perrott - Endeavour Society

- VP Award for Volunteering: Ben Chandler & The Hot Meals Project

The evening concluded with a speech from the current VP for Societies and Volunteering, Sam Dickens, expressing gratitude and congratulating all involved. We trust that everyone had a great time, and once again, congratulations to all the winners!
