Deliver sessions on Fairtrade in Schools + Raise Awareness of Fairtrade with Students and University Staff

Our Go Fairtrade Project is a campaign project, which aims to raise awareness and educate students, university staff and our local community about Fairtrade and the small actions they can take to support small-scale farmers in developing countries. 

Details

The project was awarded a grant in 2025 to support project activities, which currently include: 

- Delivering fun and creative sessions in primary schools to raise awareness of Fairtrade among our local youth population.  Dates and timings of sessions in schools to be confirmed.

- Promoting Fairtrade products from Africa. The project has a particular interest in supporting farmers in Malawi by promoting and selling their Fairtrade products to students, staff and in the local community.  Malawi is one of the poorest countries in Africa and the impact of recent cyclones has been devastating.  Floods have washed away crops, over 500,000 people have been displaced and hundreds have lost their lives. 

Volunteer with Go Fairtrade, get involved in a capacity that interests you and gain valuable campaign and educational experience.

- Support Project Leaders to deliver fun and creative sessions on Fairtrade in schools and promote products with students, university staff and our local community.

Mae ein prosiect Go Fairtrade yn brosiect ymgyrchu, sy'n anelu at godi ymwybyddiaeth ac addysgu myfyrwyr, staff y Brifysgol a'r gymuned leol am Fasnach Deg a’r camau bach y gellid eu cymryd i gefnogi pobl sy’n ffermio ar raddfa llai mewn gwledydd sy'n datblygu.  

Manylion

Cafwyd grant yn 2025 i gefnogi gweithgareddau'r prosiect, sydd ar hyn o bryd yn cynnwys:

- Darparu sesiynau hwyliog a chreadigol mewn ysgolion cynradd i godi ymwybyddiaeth am Fasnach Deg ymhlith pobl ifanc lleol.  Mae’r union ddyddiadau ac amseroedd sesiynau mewn ysgolion i'w cadarnhau.  

- Hyrwyddo cynhyrchion Masnach Deg o Affrica. Mae gan y prosiect ddiddordeb arbennig mewn cefnogi ffermwyr ym Malawi trwy hyrwyddo a gwerthu eu cynhyrchion Masnach Deg i fyfyrwyr, staff ac yn y gymuned leol.  Malawi yw un o'r gwledydd tlotaf yn Affrica ac mae effaith seiclonau diweddar wedi bod yn ddinistriol dros ben; Mae llifogydd wedi golchi cnydau i ffwrdd, mae dros 500,000 o bobl wedi colli eu cartrefi,  ac mae cannoedd wedi colli eu bywydau.
