Passed ideas become democratic policies of Undeb Bangor. Depending on the idea they may become policies that ensure Undeb Bangor; takes a certain stance on an issue; holds a certain position, belief or value; has a commitment to do things in a certain way; or a mandate to campaign or take action on a particular issue.

    Reusable Coffee/Travel Cup Discount

    Passed

      What do you want?

Similar to another voting option up right now, but more likely to shift consumer behaviour.

My policy suggestion is very simple, introduce a 20% discount in price when purchasing coffee(/hot chocolate etc) for people who use reusable coffee cups. For example, a £1.50 coffee would now be £1.20.

      Why do you want it?

I want this policy to incentivise people to use reusable coffee cups and therefore reduce their strain on the environment. There is a lot of evidence to suggest behavioural economics playing an ever larger role in reducing waste, Bangor should ensure it stays environmentally friendly, while actively seeking new ways to reduce waste. This policy of price deduction on beverage purchases, with some minor advertisement, would reduce the number of wasted cups. It is a very simple policy, which could have a large cumulative effect over time.
