Similar to another voting option up right now, but more likely to shift consumer behaviour.
My policy suggestion is very simple, introduce a 20% discount in price when purchasing coffee(/hot chocolate etc) for people who use reusable coffee cups. For example, a £1.50 coffee would now be £1.20.
I want this policy to incentivise people to use reusable coffee cups and therefore reduce their strain on the environment. There is a lot of evidence to suggest behavioural economics playing an ever larger role in reducing waste, Bangor should ensure it stays environmentally friendly, while actively seeking new ways to reduce waste. This policy of price deduction on beverage purchases, with some minor advertisement, would reduce the number of wasted cups. It is a very simple policy, which could have a large cumulative effect over time.
