The Welfare in Sport campaign is a campaign for students in sports campaign ran by students and supported by Undeb Bangor. To raise awareness of Welfare within sport, to ensure our clubs are more inclusive and accessible, it is aimed at providing peer support services and signposting to students. There will be a pledge card system implemented for AU clubs to pledge to in order to show a visible commitment to the campaign and shows clear aims for the student community.

There are 3 strands to Welfare in Sport:

· Mental Health

· Sexual Health

· Healthy Living

In order to complete the Welfare in Sport programme, we are asking that student leaders from each of our clubs, commit to working through each of these strands throughout the academic year.

In the Mental Health strand, our aim is to support student leaders to identify early, signs that fellow team mates may be struggling with their mental health. 2 members from each club will be required to fulfil a mental health module. This consists of 3 topics. These are; anxiety, eating disorders and depression.

As we develop this campaign, we hope to be able to provide a 3 hour Mental Health First Aid Training course, to support students in dealing with these issues.

The 2 other strands (sexual health and healthy living) will be more focused around social media campaigns, with information that focuses on ensuring students are signposted to the correct places. Healthy living campaign will focus on eating healthy on a budget and also living an active lifestyle outside of a gym. The sexual health campaign will also include a Sexual Health and Guidance week.

We will be adding more information over the coming weeks. Watch this space!
