In February 2015 Makerere University in Uganda and Bangor University signed an important Memorandum of Understanding to begin working together to meet the challenges of sustainable development. The purpose of the project is to promote sustainable Development at Makerere University through collaboration between Bangor University and Makerere. This is a project part-funded by Hub Cymru Africa.

One programme as part of the project will be to promote and enhance sustainability through shared learning of Bangor and Makerere Students, creating meaningful links between Bangor Students Union and Makerere Students Guild on sustainability.

Undeb Bangor won the Green Impact Special Award 2015-16 for this joint student initiative to promote Sustainable Development through shared learning across continents, and more work will be developed soon.
