UMCB has a few clubs and societies that give you the opportunity to make new friends during your time at Bangor to socialise through the medium of Welsh and practice your interests. Here is a list of the clubs and societies which we run at the moment, and this is bound to grow as the year goes on.
Aelwyd JMJ (a branch of the Urdd organisation - the Welsh League of Youth)
An opportunity to perform with the choir and others in concerts and competitions and eisteddfodau.
Following their sweeping success last year in winning the cup, our football club is going from strength to strength.
Whether you are a learner or wanting to help learners with the language, this is the place for you to socialise in Welsh without judgement.
Welsh Drama Society
If you have a taste for any aspect of drama be it performing, directing, technicians, costumes or scriptwriting, there is an opportunity for you to display your talents.
This is the branch which is responsible for organising social events so that you can play hard in addition to working hard.
There will be ample opportunity for you to make a difference in your community in Bangor by joining the volunteering activities jointly held by UMCB and its societies.
This is the Welsh language newspaper written by Bangor Welsh speaking students. It includes the latest news about the Union, the University and the world around us locally and further afield, in addition to fashion tips, reviews, sports and games and the ‘Hadau’, which is the Bangor University learners' magazine. If you would like to contribute to the paper, we are always looking for more.
We are also always looking for more ideas for clubs and societies so that you can socialise through the medium of Welsh. If you have an idea for one, come and see me and we will do our best to help you establish and run it. In being a society with the Union and UMCB, you will have access to minibuses, be insured by the Union's insurance policy and apply for grants from the Union to help to fund their activities.
