SVB currently 38 community based projects with volunteers undertaking a combined average of 600 hours of voluntary work per week.

All available volunteer placements are advertised via our mailing list as and when they arise. Below you can find details of each project including the nature of the project, the time, the location and a contact email.

As many of our projects involve working with vulnerable people, it is essential that our Project Leaders meet with all applicants prior to offering a student a place on a project. Applying to volunteer is easy, you just follow the link in the recruitment email and complete the short application form.

 

Projects for Children

Splodge

Organises arts, crafts and general fun and games for local 5–7 year olds every Tuesday evening at the university from 5:30–8pm.

Child Contact Centre

Volunteers supervise children whilst they have contact time with a non-resident parent or family member. Every other Saturday morning.

Dragon Sports

Nutures the next generation of sporting superheroes through organising after school sports activities at local primary schools once a week.

Help coach children and young people at Menai Track & Field, the local athletics club situated at the Treborth track every Wednesday evening.

Sports Video Analysis

Provide a video analysis service to local grass roots sports clubs and teams. Volunteers normally contribute 2 hours per week in term time at mutually convenient times.

The Hergest Project

Volunteers attend the Hergest Unit, Ysbyty Gwynedd’s Mental Health ward to offer befriending sessions and activities for patients once a week on Monday or Wednesday evenings.

Tea Parties

Celebrate in style by helping us put on a spectacular afternoon tea party for over 100 local elderly people at Christmas and Easter.

Volunteers take a group of local pensioners out on trips to local attractions every other Saturday afternoon. Two groups alternate every other Saturday.
