We exist to give the students of Bangor the opportunity to hear and respond to the gospel of Jesus Christ.
We run several events a week to serve Bangor students and encourage Christian Students.
Global Cafe - a weekly event, run every Thursday at 7:30pm in Ebenezer Evangelical Church, where you can join us for some delicious international food! Each week we focus on a different country - trying out their cuisine and learning about their culture. We have a short talk where information about the country is shared and then we have someone share their testimony. Some of the countries we’ve had in the past include Malaysia, Peru, Spain and many more! It is a great opportunity for you to meet and talk with people from different countries, make new friends, and hear about the work that God is doing in different cultures!
We hold our main meeting every Thursday evening at 7.30pm in LR4 (in the Main Arts building). This is an opportunity for our members and all students to meet, worship, listen, and enjoy fellowship together. Most weeks we invite speakers to come and share with us - either people who are local, or from slightly more further afield!
Tea and Toast is an evangelistic evening event (starting at 10:30), where toast is handed out to whoever wants it until the early hours of the morning. Our primary purpose is to initiate conversation with people, as to give them the opportunity to hear the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Grill A Christian happens every Friday at 4:30pm at Patrick’s bar (in upper Bangor). It is an event for anyone and everyone to come along and ask any questions they might have about Christianity or God, and some members of the Christian Union will be there to chat, and will do their best to answer!
GO weeks are what we call our monthly event weeks. They usually encapsulate a range of different evangelistic opportunities: Coffee Bars - where a free hot drink and a talk is given to anyone who attends, Tea and Toast and Prayer Breakfast are usually done multiple times as well. Recently, sport based events have been introduced also, such as dodgeball, where a short talk gospel message is presented at half-time. Evening activities are also adapted, sometimes in the form of a quiz, or an acoustic night - both with a short talk included also. These GO weeks vary quite significantly, but the purpose is always to share the gospel.
Whether you share this passion for bringing the gospel of Jesus Christ to your fellow students, or want to learn more about the Christian faith itself, Bangor University Christian Union offers a safe and friendly environment for you to do so in which everyone is welcome.
