I started the month with a tutorial on how to use our new and exciting website, which will be launched for Welcome Week. As a Sabb team we started filming our introduction to the Union video (quickly finding out Bangor’s windy weather didn’t provide the best sound quality for outside).
I then headed off to Leeds for NUS Lead and Change: Student Opportunities conference. Here I got to network with Sabbatical officers from around the UK and develop my manifesto ideas with their shared experience. When I got back the Olympics started so I got to catch the opening ceremony with our Summer Sessions event. I was then lucky enough to take students bouncing in a cave as part of the Summer Session program the next day.
During week 2 of August we met as a team to discuss the Welcome Week Heroes program and how we were going to develop it this year. Then as a Sabb team we created a presentation about our Union, the Union's strategy and our priorities for the year. The next day we headed to Aberystwyth for Y Talwrn the NUS Wales HE officer gathering where we presented our work. At Y Talwrn we discussed Welsh policy and the impact for our Unions. At the end of the week it was back in the office to look at our Calendar for the year, I finished a draft for the Activities Handbook and developed the equality and inclusivity guide further.
In week 3 I met with the activities team to plan what we needed to do in the build up to Welcome Week. As a sabb team we met with Sustainability to look at how we can work with the University and NUS to be more sustainable and internally to discuss Welcome Week. We met as an officer team to discuss our current issues and projects, work on our team priorities and elect a Deputy President on which I was successfully appointed.
