Henry Williams is a recent graduate in Business Economics from Bangor Business School. He has been elected to serve as your VP for sport for the 2019-2020 Academic Year.

He is a local lad who grew up in Benllech on Anglesey before moving to Bangor for his teenage years. Henry is a clearing success story, after not achieving what he wanted in A-levels he chose to stay local and come to the Bangor University. After a successful campaign with the popular catch phrase ‘Here with Henry’, he was elected to be the president of the Athletic Union.

Henry is a keen rugby player and captained the Men’s Union team in his final year having played religiously throughout his three years at University. He is passing on his skills and knowledge learned from playing rugby by helping coach the Women’s Rugby Union team and aims to get them promoted at the end of the season. He lives and breathes all things sport.

As Vice President for Sports, Henry is focused on student welfare in sport, with the introduction of the AU Sports Therapy Clinic. As well as this he intends to increase the contact time between the AU and the 63 clubs by increasing the frequency of development meetings/drop ins to ensure progress is being made throughout the year by all clubs. As part of the AU becoming more visible Henry and the Sports Club Assistant Richard will be producing a miniseries each week where they try every sport on offer at the University and go head to head with each other. As a result of this all students should be seeing a lot more of Henry throughout the year.

For more information, you can contact Henry at henry.williams@undebbangor.com, or by calling into the Students’ Union. He is happy to meet with any student from any club to ensure the AU is doing the most for you.

Videos, Taches and Clinics... just a few topics from the world of the Athletic Union this semester

Here is a quick update from me Henry Williams your AU President. It’s been a busy semester and on top of my day to day duties I’ve been working on several campaigns that aim to make your time here at Bangor even better than it already is.

You may have noticed our new AU Head to Head videos, where I take on Undeb Bangor Sports Assistant Richard Reading in a different sport each week. I want to showcase the amazing sports available at Bangor as well as dropping in to all clubs sessions, to better understand how your club runs, and how I can help develop each club.  You can catch the latest AU Head to Head video on our website https://www.undebbangor.com/sports/auheadtohead/

It’s coming up to the beginning of November, and it can only mean one thing, it’s time to shave those beards and grow those taches. We're raising funds and awareness this Movember for all the dads, brothers, sons and mates in our lives. We need your help. Please donate to support men's health and help us reach our most ambitious target to date, £10,000 by getting involved with your club or as an individual! You can donate through the official Movember page https://uk.movember.com/team/2346478

The Sport Therapy Clinic has been up and running for a few weeks now and we’re already seeing students benefit from the campaign. I set out to achieve Sports Therapy provision for injured students, as it forms a massive part of student Welfare in sport, and I’m pleased to see that the clinics have been full every week, with plans to expand it further!

Thanks for reading, as always if you have any issues or concerns when it comes to sport then do get in touch!
